One burst hose. Every floor.

A smart leak shut-off is a motorised valve fitted on your main water line, with flow monitoring and floor sensors. When it detects a burst or a leak that won’t stop, it closes the water off and alerts your phone. Fitted next to your whole-home filter, it also tracks litres used for filter-life alerts.

Why it matters

The honest case.

Water damage is one of the most common home insurance claims in Australia. RAA reports water and liquid damage made up 17% of its home claims (RAA). CHOICE reports escape-of-liquid claims are now the second most common type of home insurance claim at one major insurer, and that burst flexi-hoses caused 10% of water damage claims in 2024, averaging around $30,000 (CHOICE).

Slow leaks matter too. CHOICE found 20% of insurers in its comparison exclude gradual leaks, and the rest only cover hidden leaks a reasonable person wouldn’t have noticed. A valve that watches your flow 24/7 notices for you.

We don’t promise an insurance discount. Some insurers recognise leak detection; ask yours.

Especially if you travel, have upstairs bathrooms, older flexi-hoses or a holiday home.

Who it’s for

  • Anyone who’s away from home for work or holidays
  • Homes with upstairs bathrooms or laundries
  • Older homes with original flexi-hoses under sinks and toilets
  • Anyone who wants filter-change reminders based on actual use, not guesswork
How it works

Three steps, fitted with your system.

  1. Valve on the mainA licensed plumber fits a WaterMark-certified motorised valve on your main line, beside your whole-home filter.
  2. Watches flowIt learns your normal use. Floor sensors go under the dishwasher, washing machine and hot water system.
  3. Closes and alertsA burst, a running tap or water on a sensor triggers the valve to close and sends an alert to your phone.

We name the product category, not a brand, until your test: the exact valve depends on your pipe size and Wi-Fi coverage, and your proposal names the model and its WaterMark certificate.

What it doesn’t do.

  • It doesn’t stop a pipe bursting. It limits how long water runs once it does.
  • Water already in the pipes after the valve can still drain out.
  • Phone alerts need Wi-Fi and power; check how the valve behaves in an outage at your test.
  • It doesn’t replace insurance or replacing old flexi-hoses.

Smart leak shut-off questions

More in the help centre, or see how it fits with our whole-home systems.

How does a smart water shut-off valve know there’s a leak?

It measures flow on your main line. Water running far longer or faster than your normal pattern, or water on a floor sensor, tells it something is wrong. It then closes the valve and alerts your phone.

Will it cut my water off by mistake?

It learns your household’s pattern, and you can set it to away mode or adjust sensitivity in the app. If it closes, you can reopen it from your phone or at the valve.

Will my insurer give me a discount?

We don’t promise one. Some insurers recognise leak detection; ask yours. What it does do is shorten how long water runs when something fails.

What are filter-life alerts?

Because the valve measures every litre entering your home, it can remind you when your filter cartridges are due, based on actual use. Care Plan customers get the change done automatically.

Do I need a whole-home filter to get one?

No. It works on any home, but it’s quicker and cheaper to fit at the same time as a Whole Home system because the plumber is already working on your main line.
